Nothing like a celebration to light a fire under your butt. Months ago I prepped three projects but never finished them: two skirts and a pair of pants. Mother’s Day made me finish a circle skirt. Then, with my birthday coming up, I decided to finish the Clover pants.
So there it is, pants. Nothing exciting but totally necessary. My last pair had a maternity band and I wore the mess out of them. So much so that they no longer stay up, which is a problem when you’re out in public :). The fabric lost its elasticity and no longer has any recovery. Needless to say they have been retired. I replaced them with another denim pair. The fabric came from Fabric.com and I am quite happy with it. The photos were taken after an hour-long walk.
Look, no soggy bottom (I blame Paul Hollywood for putting those words in my head)!
I still love the fit and will be whipping up two other pairs: one in red and the other in navy. The only hassle I encountered when making this latest pair is that the waistband stretched out even though I staystitched it. I blame myself. I completely skipped interfacing the waistband. I couldn’t be bothered to cut it out. LAZY. I rarely do shortcuts and here I did a major one. I’m going to blame baby brain. The inside of the waistband looks awful so I’m going to redo it later.
So not only did I turn 33 today, my little man turned 3 months. My husband took the day off and we’ve had a nice day celebrating together.
Very cute pants! I think they fit you really well. And Happy birthday to both of you! (I’ve also started following your blog to see what else you post š )

Wow, those fit great! Making lots more is the way to go, once you have the fit down that well. And ah yes, every once in a while we need a humbling reminder of why not to take (some) shortcuts…. š And again, happy b’day! Hope you had an awesome day.

Adorable! I’m hoping to tackle a pair of Clovers sometime this fall. Hope I don’t have to go through 4 muslins though — not sure I have the patience for that!

I hope not! I am going to blame my ample butt and knock knees on why it took so many tries on getting the fit right.

I know, I know. It has been ages. Trying to get used to my new normal and figure out how sewing fits in. I think I may have figured it all out. For now anyway š I definitely recommend them if you’re not afraid to fit them. But they were fun to work on so you should go for it.

So cute! I keep meaning to make a pair in denim but haven’t gotten around to it. Too many patterns, too little time! But these are such a great staple, especially since you’ve nailed the fit.
