Darling, I must give you a peek.

Let me start by thanking everyone for the lovely comments on my new little pincushion venture.

So I thought I was done with Darling, that is, until I saw some photos my husband took of me wearing the muslin. There are some slight wrinkles in the back and bagginess around the oddly positioned darts. I will share the photos once my Internet cable gets fixed (shakes fist at Virgin Media).

But I do have this wee Instagram photo I can share to give you an idea of how it came along. It’s not perfect but totally wearable. Wheee!

I have definitely made progress from my first muslin. I’ve updated my pattern pieces with my most recent changes (more back ease, moved darts) and I’m ready to make my final version. I am still nervous about it. I think it’s because I’m still doubtful about my fitting and pattern changes. Oh well. Going forward and promise to learn as I go.

With no Internet I am hoping to sew plenty. But after my fitting issues with Darling I think I will definitely whip up a few easier garments.

  1. It’s looking good, well worth all the fitting stress. I’ve just finished a dress that took ages too, so am also looking for some quick and satisfying projects next!

  2. I think it looks amazing! I’m impressed. In the event of an apocalypse, you will be wearing cute stylish pieces and I will have to resort to a blanket and burlap sack. Although I have no idea where I’m going to find this burlap sack.

  3. Yay, excitied!!! I’m just starting my muslin of this dress. If you are uncertain about your changes, why not knock up a 2nd muslin just in case? Wish I’d done that with my Peony. Might save you possible heartbreak later.
